Hi, I'm Heather, and I'm so glad you're here.
Reaching out for support takes courage, time, and effort to find the right fit. I want you to know that whatever brought you here is worth exploring together.
In every session, I strive to bring authenticity, empathy, humility, and genuine curiosity. I am a committed ally to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and welcome the opportunity to work with individuals, couples, and families of all identities and relationship structures, including those that embrace non-traditional or consensual non-monogamous relationships.
After nearly two decades working in school settings, I have developed a deep appreciation for the resilience and complexity of adolescents and young adults. I feel privileged to work with individuals aged 15 and older, as well as with their families, supporting them through life's challenges and transitions.

What’s My Approach To Counselling?
My primary approach to counselling is Person-Centered Therapy, grounded in the belief that each person has the capacity for growth, healing, and meaningful change when offered a supportive and non-judgmental space.
I am inspired by Existential Psychotherapy, which explores questions of meaning, purpose, identity, and choice.
I also integrate more structured, evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), tailoring therapy to each client's unique goals and needs.
In addition, I have training in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, and I remain committed to lifelong learning to ensure I provide thoughtful, effective care.
Frequently Asked Questions:
-
Therapy can help if anxiety, stress, or feeling overwhelmed is making it hard to focus, sleep, make decisions, or enjoy your life. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Many young adults come to therapy simply because they want support, clarity, and tools to feel more grounded and confident.
-
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if it’s your first time. The first session is designed to be relaxed and supportive.
We’ll talk about your current challenges, such as anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, or struggling with confidence. I’ll also ask questions about your background, goals, and what you hope to get from therapy.
This helps us figure out the best approach for you. We may begin discussing strategies, or we may spend more time understanding patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
There’s no pressure to have the “perfect explanation.” You can simply start where you are.
-
Anxiety often shows up as racing thoughts, overthinking, constant worry, or feeling physically on edge. It can show up in our thoughts, in our bodies, or oftentimes both areas.
In therapy, we explore the patterns behind these experiences, and work on:
Understanding triggers for anxiety
Learning practical coping skills
Challenging unhelpful thought patterns
Processing past experiences that may still affect you
Building confidence in navigating uncertainty

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some clients want help with a specific issue like anxiety around school, work, or relationships. Others want ongoing support while navigating life transitions or deeper emotional patterns.
Early sessions often focus on understanding your experiences and building helpful skills. As therapy continues, we may explore deeper patterns, past experiences, and long-term goals.
The process is collaborative, meaning we check in regularly about what’s helping and what you want to focus on next.
